31 East Third Street (Part II)

We think Yoda beat the odds due to his feisty nature. He just wasn’t going to let anything get him down to the point of no return. Yoda is small for his age, but considering how much effort his little body put into surviving, it isn’t surprising.

Here he is with his friend, Indy, in his foster home:

31 East Third Street

Not all rescue stories have happy endings. Beautiful, sweet Donna was rescued and a few days later taken to the clinic to be spayed where it was discovered she was nursing.

A frantic search for her kittens ensued, and all were found. Amazingly, they survived on their own for at least 4 days before being reunited with mom.

The happy reunion was short-lived. Apparently, Donna and her kittens had come into contact with the deadly Panleukopenia (distemper) virus just before being rescued, and one by one the kittens and their mom succumbed to this almost-always fatal virus. There is one kitten who was able to survive.

418 Cherry Street (Part II)

The following cats were returned after receiving their appropriate vet work:

This cute little blue tortie/calico went back much happier after being spayed!

The males of the colony:

418 Cherry Street

Out of the seven cats trapped at this location, only one was adoptable. After his vet work was finished and his wound healed, it didn’t take long for Iggy Tanner to find his forever home!

Here are some photos of what he looked like when he was brought to us.

With some TLC, he quickly healed. Here is the new Iggy!
It’s amazing what little effort is needed to help improve the lives and health of some of these cats!

Providence

In February 2011, this beautiful cat was spotted sitting on someone’s doorstep wanting to be let in. We drove around the block to and saw that she was still waiting. We stopped, knocked on the door and the gentleman who answered said that the cat had been left behind by the family across the street when they moved. Some of the neighborhood kids would feed her whatever they could find in the way of cat food.

Even though she tested Positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), we were able to find her a loving family.

132 King Street/High Street Alley (Part IV)

Mr. Ed also lived in Buttonwood Alley between High and King Streets in the 100 block. Every day he would spend time socializing with the residents of the area and often accompanied people as they walked their dogs every day. Mr. Ed now has a home in New Hanover Township where he is part of a family consisting of three children, their parents, a Golden Retriever and two other cats! What a perfect place for him!!

132 King Street/High Street Alley (Part III)

Jack O’Reilly’s Tuxedo’s is located on High Street. We thought Jack O’Reilly would be a terrific name for this very handsome tuxedo! Jack is available for adoption – he is the only one of the cats from this location who has yet to be adopted. He is friendly, loves being petted & will roll over for tummy tickles! Additionally, Jack gets along well with other cats. He’s all dressed up & ready to start a new life!!

132 King Street/High Street Alley (Part II)

Many years ago, The Crystal Restaurant was a popular place to eat on High Street. This adorable petite brown tabby with the cute round face is named for this restaurant. Isn’t Crystal adorable? She’ll never again wander the alleys in search of food or a place to sleep. She’s found the ideal home already!

A perfect name for the fine-looking cat pictured here: Weitzenkorn! Friendly, talkative, outgoing . . . Weitzenkorn was adopted almost immediately after being removed from the alley. He is now neutered and will be an indoor-only cat.

132 King Street/High Street Alley

Seven kitties were trapped in this location. Only one went back! This black male was the sole cat who was not friendly.

When Nigel was first spotted in the parking lot, he retreated between two buildings. With a little gentle coaxing, he cautiously ventured out, allowed himself to be touched and started purring. He was able to be placed gently into a carrier and whisked off to start his new life.

We’re assuming this stunning tortie girl is Nigel’s sister. She is the same age as Nigel and, like him, she was already altered. It appears that they were abandoned by their person. Nigel & Gracie have been adopted.

360 New Street (Part II and a special kitty named Chance)

Four older kittens are with another rescue where they will be socialized & offered for adoption. No photos are available.

Also, a beautiful brown tabby female was spayed & returned to her grateful owner who then had her other two females spayed!

Pictured below is an older kitten who was trapped at this location in mid February. He was emaciated, dehydrated & suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection. With no home & no one caring for him, he was literally on death’s doorstep. Had he not been trapped that day, the vet said he may have only had another day or two until he died.
With a few weeks of care, he was given a second chance – and that became his name: Chance

Isn’t he handsome?
He’s also very sweet.

This is what he looks like in his new home! April 2011

360 New Street

Grey & Black Classic Tabby Male returned along with this grey/brown with white Female.

Here is a very beautiful Black Male who went back to his neighborhood.

Two black tuxedo males also went back neutered.

Willow Street Cats

The following cats were recently trapped, neutered & returned to their home in the 700 block of Willow Street where they are lovingly cared for by several neighbors.

The big male pictured below was not a happy camper! He just couldn’t understand that it was impossible to push his way out of the trap!

Here is the adult female – isn’t she pretty?

Eighty percent of orange cats are male. Here’s an exception. What a beautiful kitten! She & her two littermates are completely feral rendering them unadoptable.

HOMECOMING!!

After the cats were spayed, neutered & recovered, several neighbors turned out to see them before they were released! You’d be surprised to learn just how much some people care about the feral cats they’re feeding! They view the cats as their outdoor kitties & have strong affections for them, even though the cats don’t usually allow themselves to be touched.

The following cats were trapped & released:

At left - one is a male, the other female. Surprising, the two females pictured here were not pregnant at the time of spaying.

LESHER ALLEY near ADAMS STREET

Pictured here are the cats we were able to trap in this location: several FIV positive cats, two older kittens and some very definite ferals who went back to the alley after being spayed & neutered.

A nice surprise!!! The tuxedo teenage kitten turned out to be very friendly! He was named Ascot & had no problem finding a loving, indoor-one home in the area!

Oh, my - this orange cat was one of the nastiest cats I've ever come across! Needless to say, he went back to his alley & was VERY HAPPY about it!

What a shame - she could have been a sweet indoor cat instead of dirty and roaming the alleys. This calico recently got a break in life, though! After she was spayed & recuperated, she was acclimated to an outdoor home where she will be free to roam a huge back yard. There is shelter for the cats there & lots of trees. A stream winds through the property.

To the right is a black cat with his orange cagemate. They were returned to their home in the alley.

At left you'll see LOT who is another FIV positive cat who is very adoptable. He has an OVERABUNDANCE of toes, & we thought it was cute to name him Lots of Toes! He has been shown regularly at the Collegeville PetsMart where he is a favorite. Unfortunately, when people find out he is FIV positive, they (needlessly) get scared. LOT is an absolutely fantastic, friendly, social kitty. He is eventually going to make someone a wonderful companion!

Here is another FIV positive cat who also got a new lease on life! He was adopted and will never again worry about food, love and shelter.

Tippurr turned out to be 100 % friendly! Even though he is FIV positive, his adopter saw past that & fell in love with him! He is doing great in his new home & follows his new mom around.

The little brown tabby is named Mochachino - she is being offered for adoption. She's got a great personality.

This orange & white cat went back to his alley after his clinic visit.

Lesher Alley behind the 500 Block of Chestnut Street

This is where we started the Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) project in Pottstown. You’ll be able to see photos of the cats that were returned to the alley as well as individuals who were adopted or are being fostered for adoption. The white cat with the black markings (known as a Van pattern) was returned to the alley while the friendly grey cat was able to be placed into a home environment. He tested positive for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV).

This male cat tested Leukemia Positive. He was able to be placed into a home environment other FeLV cats.

Grey White Female My Image

Both of these cats are females & were returned to their alley home.

Grey TuxHeadbanger

The grey male tux (center) was returned to his alley along with this black tuxedo (far right).

These three females were returned to their alley after being spayed.

Orange Band White Tabby with Blue Eyes Fearsome Threesome

The orange Tuxedo was returned to his alley after neutering as were the grey male and the black long-hair tuxedo. The buff and white cat (in the litterbox w/the grey) has a new lease on life: he was adopted straight from the Forgotten Cats clinic in Willow Grove!

This tortie girl is being acclimated as an outdoor cat to a home where she’ll be free to roam a huge back yard. There is shelter for the cats & lots of trees. A stream winds through the property.

Meet Dillinger! He is up for adoption. Cats that are as nice as he is deserve to live in an indoor-only home where he’ll be safe & loved.

This handsome orange male is JesseJames, one of the former residents of the alley. He is over-the-top friendly and loves attention and affection!

Eddie Toes Eddie Toes 2

One of the kitties was taken in by a Forgotten Cats foster home & was adopted the first time he was shown at the new PetsMart in Collegeville! His foster name was Eddie 12 Toes, and he is a really nice individual & now has a wonderful home & a family who loves him!
